When I think of my Uncle Richard, several memories flood my mind. Countless summer days at Galveston, riding on the back of his dirt bike at Ft. Parker State Park, him pulling us on an old refrigerator door behind the tractor (hey, none of us knew better back then :)), lots of shrimp!!, him dancing with his sister-my aunt, Brenda-in the kitchen of my grandma's kitchen in LaPorte (of which I still have a photo)....and lots of laughter. He loved life, and he lived it. I also remember him coming to be with my mom when my own dad passed away, and always calling to check on her. I regret I wasn't able to take her to see him one more time. Mom loved him very much, and so did I. When Richard was a baby, he was very sick, and wasn't supposed to live very long. Well, he did. :) And, those of us who knew him are better for it...

My sweet Angela....my heart hurts for you honey. I know it was a lot of work taking care of your daddy while being sick, but you cherished being needed and did such a fine job. I love you dearly, and I am here for you always. So glad I got to see him one last time at our crawfish dinner at Guidrys. He will be missed. Pop still laughs about the scooter race at the cookoff...and that will remain a fond memory.

Passing on leaves a heartache no one can heal
But love leaves memories no on can steal!!!

Hold them all close to your heart and he will always be present in spirit.

Love, Hugs & Kisses

My darlings Angela and Anna, our hearts are hurting for you both with the loss of your Daddy, but know he is at peace and happy to be with your Mother. We will always remember the fun at the Lomax cook-off a few years ago when Pop and Richard were having scooter races. A very fun day and makes us laugh to think about it. Know you both are loved by us and look forward to hugs on June 6th.

With Love, Mom and Pop

I met Richard in 1944; I was 4 years old and he was 5. I don't think we were very good friends at first, but before we were teenagers, we had become very close friends; we've been that way ever since. I remember going on a vacation with my family when I was 16. Before the vacation was half over I was wanting to cut the vacation short because I missed Richard so much.

"Doc" as I called him. I will always remember the day I walked into the kitchen and he was waiting for me in his wheelchair. Doc told me that he had a surprise for Angela and he wanted to have it ready for her when she got home from the store.

We worked diligently and carefully to get this "thing" out of the box. He was always worried about Angela but the thought of her sitting outside in the heat really bothered him so he surprised her with an outside air cooler. He was so proud of his accomplishment and told me, "well now she won't sweat her butt off."

I will forever miss Doc and the times we just sat and talked about whatever subject came up. Be it his trip to California when he was young, slot machines, the job he had in Pasadena, kids, just a little bit about a lot. Thanks for memories I will always hold them dearly.

Life Stories

Years ago I had an adventure with Richard and Becky. We took a road trip to Pennsylvania to visit my cousin. A great trip!!! We had a few beers (Imagine that) and a fun time. Becky and I bathed in the creek; Richard just laughed as usual. Great memories!!! Just one of many.
