On January 1, 2014, Beatrice Hernandez, 90 of Baytown, TX was greeted at the gates of Heaven, by her beloved Miguel Hernandez, children, Beatrice Lopez, Jimmy Hernandez, Rene Hernandez and great granddaughter Trini Cantu as well as her siblings, Ventura Garza, Marcos Tobias, Trinidad Tobias and Rafael Tobias Jr.

Beatrice was born on September 30, 1923 in Brownsville, TX to Lucinda Medrano and Rafael Tobias Sr. She was married to Miguel Hernandez Sr. on October 26, 1946, and is survived by daughter Lucy and husband Freddie Pantoja, sons Mike Hernandez Jr. and wife Teresa and son Frank and wife Denise Hernandez and sister Margaret Hernandez. Beatrice is also survived by 33 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and God-children.

Beatrice was a life-long member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church where she was also a member of the Guadalupanas. For many years she served on the morning breakfast team, she enjoyed serving with the Guadalupanas and took pride in being a member of this group. Beatrice loved life; she loved her family, she loved her friends, she loved her plants and she loved God. No matter what situation she was presented with, no matter how challenging; she through her faith was able to overcome. It is incredible what a smile and a kind heart can do. Her sense of humor was amazing, she was an outgoing and fun loving person who truly enjoyed the company of her friends and family. She was a perfect picture of iron-willed strength and always encouraged her family. She was a guiding light and a source of inspiration.

She lived her life to the fullest and we will miss her dearly. Her wonderful life will be celebrated as she would have wanted us to do by sharing her memories and making certain that her spirit lives on in each of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers are Alfred Lopez Jr., Tommy Pantoja, Jeremy Hernandez, Ruben Hernandez, Aaron Hernandez, and Joel Hernandez. Honorary Pallbearers are Albert Lopez, Randy Pantoja, Ronnie Pantoja, Jimmy Hernandez Jr., and Brandon Jagnanon
