Corky, as friends and family called him, was born in Odem, Texas, in 1939, the youngest of 6 brothers. After the death of his father, the family moved to the Corpus Christi area, where he attended schools in Flour Bluff and Calallen and graduated from Roy Miller High School. Following his public school days, Corky graduated from Del Mar College and Rice University before finishing graduate programs at the University of Houston.

His working career spanned working in the oilfield and in construction as a teen, to managing a private club swimming pool and teaching while in college and after in Houston's pilot program for special education students, human resources experience in industry, and owning his own metal fabrication business, Main Metal Fabrication , before returning to the classroom, where he taught Special Education until he retired.

At Del Mar, he met Mary Sue Hamon, his future wife. Their children grew up in Baytown and still live in the area. Lauren Bloomfield Burns and her husband, Andrew Kelly Burns, live in Spring with their son John Kelly Burns (Jack). John Everett Bloomfield lives and works in Houston.
Corky is preceded in death by his parents, John Luther Bloomfield and Susie Green Bloomfield Hudson and his stepfather Cecil Hudson, his brothers, Jim Brown Bloomfield, Joseph Carmichael Bloomfield, Jerryl Tate Bloomfield, Paul John (Dugan) Bloomfield, and Bob (Toby) Bloomfield and his family through marriage, Everett Dexter Hamon and Susan Scott Hamon. He is survived by his wife, Mary Sue Hamon Bloomfield, their children, Lauren and Andrew Burns, Everett Bloomfield, his grandson Jack, his brother-in-law Dexter Boone Hamon and wife Susie, many nieces and nephews, and Tracey Ann Snyder of Pennsylvania.

His Baytown family includes the members of the Baytown Rotary, faculty and staff of Lee College, business, social and college friends around town here, in Houston, and across Texas, and neighbors.

Corky's life included a love of his friends, his Harley Davidson, teaching, and all sports. He lived a large life and will be truly missed.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Rice University, the Rotary Club of Baytown Foundation at P.O Box 128, Baytown, Texas 77522, or the charity of your choice.
