Ernestine Joe Pitts, age 77, of Baytown, passed away on Friday, November 22, 2013, in a local hospital. She was born on February 6, 1936, in Conroe, to John William and Mary Joe Hewitt. Ernestine was a resident of Baytown for 55 years and was of the Baptist faith. She retired from Goose Creek Consolidated School District as a School Bus Driver after 21 years. Besides spending time with family, Ernestine enjoyed crafting, cooking, gardening, canning and quilting. She will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.

Ernestine was preceded in death by her husband Carl Pitts; parents, John and Mary Joe Hewitt; twin sister, Christine Duncan and sister, Bonita "Fritzie" Thompson. She is survived by her brother, William "Sib" Hewitt and wife Sharon; son, Carl Pitts and Dyann McArdle; daughters, Cynthia Sullivan and Jeff Elliott; Donna DuRee and husband, Rick; 12 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren with one on the way; and Many more extended family and close friends who loved her dearly.

The family will receive friends on Monday, November 25, 2013 at Crespo & Jirrels from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at Crespo & Jirrels with Brother Bobby Furgeson officiating. Burial will follow at Earthman Memory Gardens in Baytown. Honoring the family as pallbearers will be Brian Pitts, Cory Pitts, Anthony Davis, Tristen DuRee, Eric Barton, Jeffrey K. Elliott, Rick DuRee Matthew McArdle and Jeff R. Elliott.
