Harold DeRonde Jones was born January 21, 1944, in Brooklyn, New York, to Shirley Blanchard Jones Ray. He was baptized in Allen A. M. E. church in Queens, New York, and was a faithful member of that church throughout his lifetime. He served on the Usher Board and assisted in many church activities over the years.

From a young child, Harold was a member of the Elks organization, as was his mother, Shirley and grandmother, Ruth Blanchard. He remained a dedicated member of Elks of The World, Queens Lodge #1001, Jamaica, New York, for over sixty-five years.

Harold married Dorothy Patterson in 1980 in Queens, New York. Of this union was one child, Rita Cherlyn Jones. He made it his mission to be the best father he could be and did everything under the sun for his daughter.

After living most of his life in New York, Harold moved to Texas in 2011 to be closer to his daughter and grandchildren. His favorite pass times were watching his grandchildren play sports, watching military movies and playing with the family dog, Rocky.

During his lifetime, Harold touched many lives and will be greatly missed. Harold leaves behind a daughter, Rita Jones Campbell; son-in-law, Lewis Campbell III; three grandsons, Isaiah Charles, Noah Campbell and Micah Campbell; a granddaughter, Aniah Campbell; an uncle, Elmer W. Jones; devoted friend, Dorothy Jagnanan; cousins, Pauline Odums, Melissa Jones, Meagan Jones, and Diamond Jones; as well as a host of other relatives and friends..

A visitation will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, February 3, 2014, at Crespo & Jirrels Funeral Home. A celebration of life will follow the visitation at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Crespo & Jirrels. Burial will be at White Cemetery.
