Janie Louise Mayfield Kolb was born in Stephens, Arkansas on May 20, 1931 to Fred and Virginia Mayfield. She passed away on Sunday, October 19, 2014 in Baytown, Texas. Janie was the Valedictorian of the Stephens High School class of 1949. She then attended Magnolia A&M College for 1 year. After moving to Texas, she worked for Barbers Hill ISD for 20 years, first as an elementary school secretary, and later as the secretary to the superintendent.
Janie is preceded in death by her husband Joe Frank Kolb and parents, Fred and Virginia Mayfield. She is survived by her children, Debra Baggett and husband Dan of Tomball, TX, and Steven Kolb and wife Mary of Lake Kiowa, TX; grandchildren, Jason Baggett, Joey Baggett and wife Stefanie, Hayley Zinski and husband Michael, Joseph Kolb, and MacKenzie Nguyen and husband Chris; great-grandchildren, Gabe, Addie, and Amelia Zinski; sister, Linda Maloch; nephew, Lee Maloch; and dear friends, Janelle Harvey, and Maggie and J.O. Horn.
The family will receive friends at Crespo and Jirrels Funeral Home on Thursday, October 23, 6-8 PM. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 24, 2014, at 10 AM, at the First United Methodist Church of Mont Belvieu, 10629 Eagle Dr., Mont Belvieu, with Pastor Jamie Lea officiating. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 25, at 9 AM in Stephens, Arkansas with Pastor Cedric Walters officiating. Pallbearers will be Jason Baggett, Joey Baggett, Joseph Kolb, Michael Zinski, Chris Nguyen, and Lee Maloch. The family would like to thank the staffs at Remington Park and Faith Community Hospice for their loving care. Memorials may be made in Janie's name to the First United Methodist Church of Mont Belvieu.
