On the evening of Monday, May 19, 2014, Jose E. Romo peacefully passed away in his home. He was born on April 07, 1926 in Monterrey, Mexico to Inocencio and Maria Romo. He was an avid football and baseball fan who enjoyed tinkering in his garage and tending to his garden. He loved spending time with all his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He greatly enjoyed camping and fishing with his sons at any available opportunity. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Mr. Romo is preceded in death by: his parents, his wife Julia Romo, and his grandson Jeremy James Romo. He is survived by his children: Gloria Stoner and husband Harvey from Highlands, TX; Roland Romo from Baytown, TX; Oscar Romo and wife Sylvia from San Juan, TX; Rosie Navar and husband Tino from Oswego, IL; Roy Romo from Baytown, TX; Jose Romo and wife Brandy Fant from Karnes City, TX; and Hilda Sparling and husband David from Magnolia, TX. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Erik Stoner, Marcos Stoner, Julia Stoner, Christine Eaton, Christopher Romo, Stephen Romo, Stefany Romo, Ricky Romo, Orly Romo, Lisa Bazan, Tino Navar, Lisette Navar, Leslie Perez, Roy Romo, Andrew Romo, Angel Hernandez, Mandy Hernandez, Jose Hernandez, Mathew Noel Bargas, Michael Romo, Nicole Romo, Daniel Valdez, Christian Sparling and 38 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Thursday, May 22, 2014, from 6 – 8 p.m., at Crespo & Jirrels Funeral Home, with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. by Deacon Fernando Gonzales and Marie Juarez. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, May 23, 2014, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, with Reverend Jesus Lizalde as celebrant. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery, with Deacon Rudy Venegas officiating.
