Marie Loiacano Tindall, 92, of Baytown, went to her heavenly home September 30, 2014 surrounded by her family and friends. She was born to the late Mariono Loiacano and Annie Papania Loiacano, August 17, 1922. Marie was a graduate of the Texas School for the blind, where she met and later married Rupert Finley Tindall Sr., her husband of 40 years.
Despite being blind from early childhood Marie raised five children, and worked outside the home where she ran a concession business in the Orange County Courthouse for 26 years.
Marie was a founding member of St. Mary's chapter of the Catholic Daughters in Orange. She was also president of the Texas Federation of the Blind, a group of which she was a member for many years. In that capacity Marie helped win passage of many of the handicap laws which we now take for granted. She counseled with both shut-ins and the newly blind. Marie saved the lives of some who felt too despondent to continue in life.
Those who knew her loved her and felt blessed by her presence in their lives.
She is preceded in death by her husband Rupert Finley Tindall Sr., parents Mariono Loiacano and Annie, brothers Guy, Anthony, and sisters Amelia Pilla, Sis Ragusa, Francis Stanley and grandsons Christopher Tindall and Johnny Bland.
She is survived by her brother Lucas Loiacano, her five children, Marion Tindall, Anna Williams, Tom Tindall, Rupert Finley Tindall Jr., Nancy Johnson and husband Neal. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and one great great grandson. As well as close friends Glenda Enderli and Daisy Merchant. And a special Thanks to Dr. Bernick, FR. Khanh Ho, Gene and Martha Leblanc, Belinda, Ruth and Fran.
A visitation will be held Friday, October 3, 2014 from 6 – 8 pm with a rosary at 7 pm at Crespo & Jirrels Funeral Home. Funeral Mass and service will be held Saturday, October 4, 2014, at 10:30 am, at St. Mary's Catholic Church 912 W. Cherry Ave, Orange, TX 77630-5017.
