Minerva D. Hernandez, age 68, of La Porte, passed away on Wednesday, July 30, 2014, in Baytown. She was born on January 3, 1946, in Tamaulipas, Mexico to Eluterio and Candelaria Delgado Hernandez. Minerva was a strong Christian woman full of faith. She fought a long hard battle with cancer, always doing things to stay healthy physically and mentally. Minerva loved gardening and flowers, and cooking. Her greatest love was for her children and grandchildren who will miss her deeply.

She is survived by her children, Guadalupe Cienfuegos and husband, Daniel, of Baytown, Oscar Garcia, Jr. of Phoenix, Arizona, Myrna Garcia of Houston, Elizabeth Wilkinson and husband, Jayson, of Buckeye, Arizona, Crixtela Castelo of Baytown, and Cynthia Oswald and husband, Richard, of Houston; grandchildren, Daniel, Jose and wife Jennifer, Avery, Megan, Tommy, Noah, Jayson, Gisele, Sergio, David, Brenda, Raul, Rosalia, and Cole; three great grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Eduardo, Josefa, Monce, Susana, Emilio, Felipe Angel, and Jesus; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members.

The family will receive friends at Crespo and Jirrels Funeral Home on Friday, August 1, 2014, starting at 2 p.m., with a prayer service to start at 7 p.m., with Pastor Jorge Torres officiating. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2014, at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Baytown. The family requests that memorials be made in her name to the American Cancer Society.
