Ruby Karr Day, 97, of Baytown, passed away on Friday, July 25, 2014, in a local hospital. She was born November 12, 1916, in Seminole, Oklahoma, to Hubert Thomas Karr and Ida Mattie Forbes Karr. Ruby was a realtor in Harlingen, Texas, for over forty years. She was a faithful member of First Methodist Church in Harlingen, volunteered with the Harlingen Historical Museum and was a member of the PTO. Ruby was a strong, independent woman who never met a stranger. Ruby will be remembered for her positive spirit, which influenced many in her life.
Ruby is preceded in death by her parents, Hubert and Ida Karr; her husband, Paul Andrew Day; six brothers and one sister. She is survived by daughters, Pamela Wilson and husband, Reverend Dr. George Wilson, of Manvel, and Paula Ellis and husband, Keno, of Baytown; grandchildren, Chris Ellis and wife, Leah, Kelley Peek and husband, Mark; great grandchild, KayLee Peek; sister-in-law, Doris Karr; many nieces and nephews; and other friends and extended family.
A celebration of Ruby's life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 29, in the Chapel of Crespo & Jirrels. Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at Mont Meta Cemetery in San Benito, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the charity of one's choice.
