Floyd Earl Bishop, 84, of Baytown, passed away at a local hospital on Wednesday, February 22, 2012. He was born November 25, 1927, in Elliott, Texas, to Ernest Tillery Bishop and Ruth Marie Hancock Bishop. Mr. Bishop was a lifetime member of Cedar Bayou Grace United Methodist and a member of the Masonic Lodge of Cedar Bayou. He retired in 1981 as a supervisor of stores for Diamond Shamrock. Later, he worked as a buyer for Texas Marine. Besides his family, he enjoyed woodworking, fishing and hunting, gardening and being outdoors.
Preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Donna Louise Bishop Daniel; and son-in-law, Kenneth Daniel; his sisters Gladys Martin, Jaqueline Clawson, his brother Herbert Bishop and his brother-in-law, Vernon Holloway. Mr. Bishop is survived by his wife, Martha Louise Bishop; daughter, Paula Laws and husband, Robert, of Baytown; sister, Susie Mae Jones and sister-in-law, Laverne Bishop; brothers, Hebert Bishop and wife, Pat, Jesse Bishop and wife, Martha and brother-in-law Albert G. Holloway, Jr.; three grandchildren, Marti Vidal, Kellie Daniel and Kevin Daniel and wife, Bonnie; two great grandchildren, Bishop Vidal and Cora Daniel; and many other loving friends and family members. He will be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother, who had a quick humor, was an unmerciful tease and was someone who had a strict sense of right and wrong.
The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. on Friday, February 24, 2012, at Crespo & Jirrels Funeral Home. A Celebration of Mr. Bishop's Life will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 25, 2012, in the Chapel of Crespo & Jirrels, with Reverend Carol Turner and Reverend Dwight Reagan officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery. For those desiring, memorial donations may be made to Cedar Bayou Grace United Methodist Church, 2714 Ferry Road, Baytown 77520 or to the charity of one's choice.
