Joseph William Tovlin, 80, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, April 23, 2012. He was born December 9, 1931, in Homestead, Pennsylvania, to Joseph S. Tovlin and Anna Sulak Tovlin. He graduated from Homestead High School in 1949. Mr. Tovlin proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. Following his time of service, he graduated from Duquesne University in 1962 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. He chose a career as a computer operator with U. S. Steel in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. In 1969, he was transferred to U. S. Steel in Baytown, Texas, where he worked until he retired in August of 1986. In his early retirement years, Mr. Tovlin volunteered with the Baytown Police in the data entry department.

Preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Anna Tovlin; Mr. Tovlin is survived by his wife, Bernadette Kundravi Tovlin; children, Mary Beth Cranfill and husband, Kenneth, Madonna Tovlin, Marette Watson and husband, Steve, and Joseph G. Tovlin and wife, Stacy; grandchildren, Jennifer Lee and husband, John, Stacy Henry and husband, John, Heather Harbour, Lauren Harbour, Kendra Watson, Collin Watson, Abby Tovlin, and Jacob Tovlin; and many other friends and family members who loved him. He will be remembered as a loving son, husband, father, grandfather and friend.

A Rosary will be held at 9 a.m. on Thursday, April 26, 2012, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 800 W. Baker Road, Baytown 77521. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 10 a.m., with Reverend Terence P. Brinkman, S.T. D. as celebrant. A reception will be held following the service.
